Meet the Founder
Robert and Annette Young
A Global Calling
Robert’s journey in ministry began in 2004 when his daughter, Holly, enrolled in Youth With A Mission (YWAM) through their Discipleship Training School (DTS) after high school. As Holly shared her experiences, he and Annette found their hearts stirred toward missions and discipleship.
Later, the couple visited Holly, who was serving in the South Pacific in Vanuatu. Arriving on the island of Efate, they felt a clear and undeniable calling from God to become personally involved in missions and spiritual leadership.
As that calling matured, his entire family enrolled in Crossroads DTS. Together, spending five months in training and outreach, including ministry in Fiji and other regions. This season deeply shaped their faith, obedience, and understanding of God’s design for discipleship within the family.
30 Years of Leadership
As the leader of Big Steps Little Feet, a Michigan Christian preschool for three decades, Robert uses his leadership and entrepreneurial skills to guide others with compassionate authority. What began as teaching notes and small-group discussions gradually developed into structured lessons as God impressed upon him the importance of intentional, foundational instruction.
Formation Through Faith
The years leading to Soar Thrive were filled with purpose: building resilient communities in challenging environments, teaching foundational biblical truths, and witnessing the transformative power of faith in action across diverse cultures.
Structured Stewardship
Returning from mission, Robert sensed God leading him to teach and lead men’s groups in various churches and ministries. What began as teaching notes and small-group discussions gradually developed into structured lessons as God impressed upon him the importance of intentional, foundational instruction.
